There are innumerable ways to influence your mood and direction, for instance, writing down your feelings in a journal or book. Writing your feelings is often helpful for processing and venting your emotions which can help you, identify, clarify and move on rather than remaining stuck.
This five minute exercise, from the ancient art called Jin Shin Jyutsu® allows you to harmonize and balance your emotions as well as increase your energy. This small part of Jin Shin involves holding the fingers individually, (as each finger is related to an emotion) allowing you to balance blocked energy that is causing distress.

Using breath work can enhance your moods and lift you to a healthier level of contentment. When you are in hypnosis I anchor that calmed relaxed feeling you are experiencing (using the 7/11 breathe). On the inhale you put your finger and thumb together and I give you two words that create calmness within. On the longer exhale you are given two other calming words as you separate your finger and thumb. This is called an anchor. When you use this anchor 5-7 breaths a few times a day it gets stronger like a muscle and can be used anytime to create that wonderful relaxed feeling you get in hypnosis.
Another useful technique is to turn towards the creative part of your mind during times of stress, whether it is painting, drawing, playing an instrument or listening to music these right brain hobbies can also assist in bringing about a lighter sense of mood and comfort.
Meditation is also very important in bringing about a healthier state of mind, whether it is a guided meditation like “Headspace” (an app) or simply quieting your mind each day for 20 minutes. Just taking that time for yourself and acknowledging you are worth it is vital.

Isn’t it time for us to stop making excuses and create the life we want, to be the person we want to be? We have all heard it before but let’s take it in now. If we keep doing the same things without changing our attitudes, habits and patterns we will keep getting similar results. So if you want to move forward in a positive way, you must do things differently that relate to what you want to change.
If you want to have a healthier body for instance, it’s time to eat foods that are in alignment with that goal. Don’t make excuses about change being difficult or inconvenient; it is a choice. Each moment of each day we make choices to get up and exercise, buy or order healthy foods or not. You make choices to care enough about yourself, to feel you are that important or not. It is a choice to fall back on old habits or create new ones that will allow you to feel better about yourself, and your life.
I am not saying changing your life-style is always easy, but I am saying it is doable. The question is do you think you are worth it? If the answer is no then you may want to ask yourself “why I you believe I’m not worth it and how can I change that negative belief system?”
If those deep seated negative beliefs are not allowing you to be in a healthy personal relationship, with food or with yourself you may want to consult a hypnotherapist, a psychologist or a marriage and family counselor.
If changing your negative belief system is something that you believe will improve your life, the moment is now because truthfully that is all we have. The past is gone tomorrow may never come, now is it! Isn’t it time to put you first for a while?

You hear it more than ever these days” be in the present”, well easier said than done.
What I have found is that being in the moment is a habit that we acquire by being more mindful. Being mindful means bringing our awareness to whatever we are doing in the moment. The trick is that being mindful is also a habit that we must work on as well.
When we begin the journey of mindfulness many of us are just not used to living that way. We focus on the future or the past and that is exactly why we are not enjoying our lives in the moment. I do not claim that mindfulness is an easy path to walk. Getting used to being mindful is a journey of consciousness it is not a destination.
I could list many books to help you toward this worthy goal, as I do for my clients. The use of hypnotherapy and meditation is helpful as well in retraining the mind, but the most important element is your dedication and willingness to change. Yoga can be another helpful component. Any activity that allows you to practice having to be aware when you are doing it can be important in moving you toward this goal.
When we focus on the past we often feel depressed. When we focus on the future we often feel anxious. Only when we are in the moment can we enjoy our lives thoroughly and completely.
When we live in the present we have the ability to become more authentic and comfortable with ourselves, freeing us. When we are truly in the moment it releases us from our old patterns from the past, enabling us to move forward with a feeling of confidence, clarity, motivation, calm and purpose that we are here now!

Are you hard on yourself? Many of us are. If you were to monitor your conversations with yourself you might find that you unconsciously criticize yourself more than you think. Unfortunately that can work against you in many areas of your life, especially when it comes to confidence.
The problem is that you probably do not notice that you are subtly putting yourself down, day after day after day, but your subconscious mind notices. Those constant negative put downs and conversations to yourself affect you in what you decide to do each day. Do you dare go for that job, promotion, partner those healthy choices, exercise, food or that friendship? You may not feel like you deserve to have what you want in life and therefore develop sabotaging behaviors that interfere with your healthy goals. If you are consistently saying/hearing negative thoughts about you how can you feel good about yourself, how can you be successful, a responsive partner and parent and what are you passing on to your children?
We are after all most suggestible to ourselves so isn’t it important to give yourself positive messages? We may not have learned that at home or at school or in life, but you can learn and hypnosis can help.
If you find that you are not creating enough success in your work, your personal life in which you seem to be attracting what you do not want it is essential to change the channel on those negative suggestions. It is important to begin to learn to be more mindful, patient, gentle and forgiving toward yourself in order to have the life you want and deserve.
This may sound like a tall order, to realign your thinking, but with the assistance of hypnosis, I have seen many clients do just that, and their lives just get better and better.

Can we give ourselves permission to take time to relax and rejuvenate and to have a balanced life? Many of us are our own worst slave drivers, we are so used to being hard on ourselves that we forgot, or never learned how to be gentle and nurturing.
I call that slave driver or critical voice, the “crazy roommate” and when we let the crazy roommate run our life, watch out! Whether we learned this from our parents, teachers, or just being out in the world, it does not serve us on so many levels.
This type of behavior, running ourselves ragged, can lead to many modern maladies such as anxiety, stress, insomnia, negative self talk, illness, more sabotaging behaviors then I have the time or space to even mention in this article.
This is one of the most frequent components I speak to my clients about. I ask my clients to “put the oxygen mask on yourself first, then put it on the other person,” just like the stewardesses’ tell you when you are on the airplane. This is so important to learn and it is not always easy for many people to accomplish. Learning to create that kind of balance is kind of a retraining.
One reason it is so common to not take time for us is because our society calls us lazy, selfish or some other derogatory label. We in the U.S. are not given permission to nurture ourselves in this way. In European and Scandinavian countries people live longer and richer lives and part of the reason is they are given the time and permission to have 4-6 weeks or so of vacation time a year. What is wrong with us that we don’t think we deserve down time to care for our families and/or ourselves?
Even if we cannot afford 4-6 weeks off a year we can learn to relax and take some time for ourselves each day. Just taking 20 minutes for meditation, or listening to a hypnotherapy recording and or 30 minutes for a workout, would be beneficial. These new healthy habits can lead to more satisfaction, better health mentally and physically, and a positive sense of overall well being.
Hypnotherapy can help you learn to create a more calm, confident lifestyle and to believe in and take care of yourself. Hypnotherapy can help you understand that you have a choice in the direction you want your life to move and how to get what you truly deserve.
