Whether it is something that life brings on such as an illness, the death of a friend or loved one, most of us not only grieve but have some anxiety associated with these events. It could be a move to another city, a change of jobs, something as seemingly benign as a talk you have to give for work, but these and other situations can bring on stress, anxiety or even trigger panic attacks.

The problem for most people with anxiety or panic attacks is they develop negative thought patterns, scaring themselves with distortions and the what ifs. Since we are all most suggestible to ourselves this creates a belief that the world is a very scary and uncomfortable place with no escape. Anxious people tend dwell or ruminate turning these thoughts over and over in their minds until they create so much fear and discomfort it takes over their lives.

The good news is that learning some cognitive therapy, using breathing techniques as well as accessing the subconscious mind with hypnosis can help transform an anxious individual into a healthy balanced person who feels empowered and excited about life again.

Other life enhancers such as yoga, meditation, exercise and enjoying the beauty of nature can also be important adjuncts to healing. It is good to know that our belief structure that got us into this unhealthy mental state of anxiety can be changed. With the right guidance and desire to move into a healthier happier place in your life, you can move forward.

The other day I heard a great quote,” The Soul is covered by a thousand veils”. Anxiety/fears, hurt, bad habits, unhealthy lifestyles and attitudes, are all old stories that keep us from becoming the person we want to be. These are some of the veils that sabotage us. Our work is removing the layers of the veils, with patience, perseverance and self-love. It truly is a choice- what’s yours?
