When you want to eliminate weight, what I speak to my clients about first is that to not think of it as a diet, but rather a lifestyle change. Diets usually result in short-lived programs with short-lived results. Not to worry- it’s not about extremism and it doesn’t have to be unpleasant- it’s about balance and moderation. Simple changes can have a huge impact. For example, it is important not to skip meals, especially breakfast. When we awaken in the morning we usually have not eaten for 8-10 hours or more, so our sugar levels are very low. By eating within an hour of waking up, the metabolism begins to work, sugar levels balance out, and the day is begun in a healthy way. In order to keep your sugar levels balanced, it is a good idea to eat something approximately every 4 hours. Snacks like nuts and fruit are ideal. For instance, berries are great for you because they are low in calories and sugar and have a host of other beneficial properties. If you eat nuts, eat no more than a small handful at a time. Furthermore, always drink plenty of pure water in between meals. Not only is it essential for good metabolism, but it will aid in providing you a satisfied, full feeling.

The most effective types of foods are proteins (the size of your closed fist) and complex carbohydrates, (the size of your closed fist and your other hand around it). Carbohydrates include vegetables, whole grains, and fruits. Some examples of proteins are yogurt, fish, chicken, turkey, nuts and meat (keep meat to a minimum if you must eat it).

It is also important to find time to exercise. I personally prefer a combination of walking/hiking the hills, yoga and spinning at my local gym. Choose an activity that makes you work up a sweat and keeps your heart rate at a good pace. Most importantly, choose an activity that you enjoy doing, because whatever you choose, consistency is key!

Hypnotherapy can be a key element for weight control with assistance from the subconscious in releasing any emotional issues tied to food and eating.

Hypnosis is a very natural, relaxing state we all go in and out of during the day and night. Some examples are when you are falling asleep you go into a trance right before you drift off to sleep, driving a car and not remembering how you got home, or missing your freeway exit.

Hypnotherapy can be used to increase motivation and help rid yourself of sabotaging behaviors or limiting beliefs that prevent you from reaching your goals. You will be able to utilize your subconscious to give you a big edge in craving healthier foods that will allow you to eliminate extra weight
